Our Mission in Ethiopia

We always take pictures when we visit beautiful places....resorts, lakes, etc....  I realized today that we needed to just take some pictures of common everyday sights we see and post them.  So we did that today on our way home from Addis to Debre Zeyit, after going up to take care of some things.... Here are some of the sights we see....

Crazy traffic....

lots of shops and fruit stands...

tire stores....

furniture stores....

butcher shops...

markets...

horses in the middle of the road....

drug stores...

guys putting things up on top of their taxis ...

trucks, trucks, and more trucks...

construction sites...

MORE tire stores...

brickyards...

roadside stands...

pretty scenery....

green fields...

guys selling fruit from the back of their trucks...

homes...

people selling charcoal in big bags...

guys walking through moving traffic selling breadsticks
and rolls to truck drivers...

interesting road conditions...

more beautiful scenery...

more homes...

lots of signs in Oromifa (on top) and Amharic (bottom)...

more  homes...

lots of cattle being driven by young boys...

gas staions, and donkeys in the road, RIGHT next to our car....

and the closer we get to Debre Zeyit, the
greener and prettier it gets!!

and we're HOME!
(That's our home at the end of the road.)

We are continuing our grandkids' birthday celebrations, by giving treats to a child their age on their birthday and taking a picture of the child with our grandchild's photo and treat!  We have done that for all of our 22 grandchildren and now have started over again with Jamie's twin girls Amy and Ashlyn, who turned 11 yesterday!  Here are the latest birthday treat photos for Jamie's three girls with August birthdays....

Wongelawit got a treat for Aliyah's 3rd birthday
August 16th.

Mamen got a treat for Ashlyn's 11th birthday.

Darik got Amy's 11th birthday treat.

Next month, we have Julie's Brigham turning 13
and her Lydia, who will turn 8 and be baptized!!

We had a Zone Development Meeting with 14 elders, in Debre Zeyit
at our place.  Bob and I spoke along with a few elders, then
we had Hawaiian Haystacks and Banana Bread for lunch.

We went to lunch today someplace NEW, so I had to post some photos.  Sifen, a recent convert in our Debre Zeyit Branch and our Young Single Adult Rep, just got a job at the Liesak Resort on Monday, so we had to go visit her! What a NICE resort!  We had never been there.  It is on Lake Babagoya. They had a really good weekend lunch buffet!

The Liesak Resort

There were wood carvings from tree
trunks all over the resort!

Lake Babagoya is VERY pretty!!

This was the ceiling in the restaurant.

Our view from the restaurant where we ate

Inside the restaurant
(I forgot to take a picture of the buffet...)

As always, there is a coffee ceremony...

We walked down to the lake after we ate and
got a few more photos of the lake and surrounding area.

I zoomed in to see the Babagoya Resort across the lake
from the Liesak Resort.  We went to Babagoya with my brother, Rick.

A girl was taking our picture....

and two Ethiopian guys "photo bombed" us!

More tree carvings....

As we walked up the stairs, we saw our friend,
Sifen (left above) and the girl who was training her.

One more tree carving....

One last look down the stairs....

It was  a BUSY place today!

The sign at the entrance as Elder Wold paid the guard for watching our car.
(Something we have to do EVERYWHERE we ever park!)
