These photos of Wendo Genet were taken last and should have
been posted BELOW the others....??  Oh well....

This shows you BEAUTIFUL, GREEN Wendo Genet!
It was like driving through the Garden of Eden!

Me in Primary in the Wendo Genet Branch on Sunday

These three boys never stopped smiling at me during
the whole class time! The one in the middle has been
baptized and knew ALL the answers!

A few of the girls in Primary

Here are a few of the Primary kids, joined by two
YW in the back, who had GREAT smiles
and who followed me around wanting some of my
lipstick!  It was almost gone, so I put some on
their fingers and let them put some on after
Church.  They were SO excited! They did
a "Lipstick Pose" below.... : D

There were COOL banana trees, avocado trees, and
others all around the Church compound.

Lipstick Pose

We had to get a shot of this bathing and laundry
spot by the side of the road on the way home from
Wendo Genet....

Just had to post a few more photos from our GREAT weekend in Awassa and our visit to the Wondo Genet Branch for the last hour of Church on Sunday.  The children in Ethiopia are SO beautiful ~ inside and out!! : D

This was the breakfast buffet down by the lake
Sunday morning

We were the first ones at the buffet at 7:00 am and
got a table by the fountain in the lake

Our table

A resort worker offered to take our photo!

Elder and Sister Tanner took this photo of
those attending the Awassa Branch one Sunday
in March 2013. There were 137 there that day!

This hangs outside just as you enter the Chapel.

Lydia and Caleb are children of Abraham, a
Counselor in the Awassa Branch Presidency.

Caleb loved rubbing the skin on my arms and
the girls below kept feeling my hair and looking
at my nails.   (I couldn't help but think
of the Sesame Street scene with Whoopi Goldberg
and ELMO as they talked about the difference
between their skin and hair.... : D )

Lydia and Caleb are joined by Selam and
Genet, darling young girls who swept the
building and helped set up all the chairs.

Here we are in Awassa, Ethiopia!  What a BEAUTIFUL drive it was coming down here today from Addis Ababa!  There were fun things to see ALL the way!  Here are some photos taken on the way here and at a fun Beach Resort called Sabana, out in the middle of nowhere by a lake.  A few photos are also at the PRETTY Lewi Resort where we are staying tonight.  We'll attend Sacrament Meeting in the Awassa Branch and then drive over to the Wendo Genet Branch for the last hour of Church.  We will head back to Addis tomorrow afternoon.

It was green and pretty ALL the way!!

One of dozens and dozens of huts along the way....

I LOVE the TREES here!!

This is just one of the many bungalows you can stay in

The ceiling of the restaurant

YUMMY chocolate sundaes with soft ice cream!!

Overlooking Lake Langano
This is a little tram that takes you down
to the lake from the restaurant and
shops.  We didn't have time to do it.

Look closely at the WORST thorn bushes we have
ever seen!!  Yowza!!!

The Restaurant from the back

Inside the AWESOME restaurant!

I snapped this on our way out.  I LOVE these trees!

These are just a few of the boys who stood on
their heads (missed that) and danced around
on the road, shaking their bottoms at us to try
to get us to give them money.

This is the sign to turn off on a BUMPY long
dirt road to the Sabana Resort on Lake Langano....

These were supposed to go with the post above.... Here are the Shashamene Elders we stopped to see 1/2 hour before Awassa and the Lewi Resort where we are tonight......

The Elders' awesome vegetable garden!

Cute Elder Thornton and Elder Fuller in Shashamene

The creative Elders' weight set  : D

A Sqaure (which is really a circle) in
Awassa that reminds me of an evil
castle or something

The Church building in Awassa, where
they were JUST starting a baptism when
we arrived on Saturday! So fun!!

The Lewi  (Lay-Wee) Resort on
Lake Awassa as we were walking to our
rooms

Our pretty room complete with mosquito
net (which we are under as I am typing
because Bob saw a mosquito!)

The amazing view from our balcony!!

Bob watched this monkey and 2 friends grab a cup
of soda from a little girl on the balcony below us!!
They grab food off the table while you eat if
you aren't watching too!!

A fun night in a beautiful place with

Today is FLAG DAY here in Ethiopia! We drove into the city center and flags were EVERYWHERE!  Every bus had one on the front, guys were selling flags all over and people were walking down the street waving flags! They really celebrate their holidays (Holy Days) here!! There
are SOOOO many!!

We also visited the Abenezer Orphanage today!
It was NOT easy to find!! We took an Ethiopian friend
with us.
This is a room for 2 -4 yr. olds.  All of the cribs and beds
were handmade by someone and painted bright colors!
"Hilena", who is soon to be adopted by Amy (Greer) Kroff.
For you 46th ward friends, she is Angela Henrie's sister!
That is how we heard about this place!  What a DOLL!
Associated with the Orphanage is a program for single
moms to teach them skills such as weaving, sewing,
jewelry-making, hair dressing, manicures, food preparation,
etc.  We were VERY impressed with that! They sell what
they make so I bought a few things! : D
This is the lady who wove my scarf.  : D
Hilena was SO darling.... but a bit afraid of us.
